Description
The smallest Eupatorium growing in our gardens, ‘Baby Joe’ reaches maybe 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide, making it a perfect choice for smaller garden spaces. Like it’s larger growing cousins, this North American Native produces large 10 inch diameter dome-shape clusters of purple to mauve-purple flowers all summer long and into early fall. The butterflies will thank you for planting this one. Baby Joe grows bushier than the species with tighter flower clusters that put on a spectacular show in the summer garden. Erect stems are clothed in lance-shaped dark green leaves that contrast nicely with the purple stems.Â
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 2 to 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide, ‘Baby Joe’ Joe Pye Weed is ideal for use as a specimen or in groupings in perennial borders or behind low growing shrubs in landscape borders. A fine addition to butterfly gardens, purple theme gardens and consistently moist bog and meadow gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 2 feet apart for groupings;Â 5′ or more apart for space between plants

I planted these in fall 2022. They came up beautifully in spring 2o23. And up…and up…and up. They are easily 5 feet tall and have significant spread. They are lovely and covered in bees, but unfortunately may turn out to be much too big for the planting location (more due to spread than height).———————————-Lovely photo!! I hope they don’t outgrow their space. If so, Fall is the best time to transplant them. We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy your purchase for years to come! Thanks for the kind words and wonderful review! 🙂 Beth Steele | WBG
